Company History
Founded in 2012
WOTTNIG was founded to address a specific gap in Nigeria’s energy sector: the absence of a single, accountable provider spanning downstream petroleum trading and marine logistics support. At the time, operators managing fuel procurement and marine transport were forced to coordinate across multiple independent traders, security providers, and logistics companies, a fragmented structure that created compliance gaps, communication breakdowns, and delays with no single party accountable for resolving them.
WOTTNIG's original scope
WOTTNIG began as a downstream trading and marine logistics operation, supplying refined petroleum products alongside marine vessel support and crew boat services for offshore and coastal operations.
Growing With Our Clients
As client needs grew, WOTTNIG expanded beyond fuel and logistics into civil engineering (supporting jetties, berths, and coastal works) and OEM representation, giving clients reliable access to specialized industrial equipment.
Today, WOTTNIG operates as an integrated group across four divisions: downstream petroleum trading, marine logistics and security, civil engineering, and OEM representation, each built to remove a specific point of friction operators face when working across multiple disconnected vendors.

Managing the 2014 global oil price collapse
The first major challenge occurred during the 2014 global crude oil price crash. This collapse sharply reduced exploration and production budgets among major International Oil Companies (IOCs), leading to a decline in vessel charter rates and downstream fuel demand. To survive this downturn, WOTTNIG’s management implemented several operational adjustments:
Smart transition to contract labor
The firm reduced its permanent headcount to a core staff, shifting the rest of its workforce to flexible contract roles.
Performance and character-based retention
WOTTNIG acheived this by its remaining staff around strict performance and ethical standards.
Quality assurance upgrades
WOTTNIG focused on product quality for refined fuels like ATK and AGO, securing long term supply agreements with high value clients
Embracing technological solutions
The company integrated digital fleet monitoring and logistics tracking to reduce transit waste and optimize fuel distribution routes.
